Monica Bill Barnes & Company’s mission is to celebrate individuality, humor and the innate theatricality of everyday life. Originally built upon a repertoire of solos and duets, MBB &CO. has since grown to include evening-length works and large-scale site-specific performances. Through the past ten years, the company has performed in over twenty venues in New York City and has enjoyed artistic residencies as well as being presented in over 30 cities throughout the United States and abroad.
Kate Weare Company is a New York-based contemporary dance group whose work is characterized by fierce physicality, thoughtfulness and authenticity. The dances explore a contemporary view of intimacy-both stark and tender- by drawing on our most basic urge to move and decode movement. Weare uses moving body to channel a form of truth telling: our need for safety, our longing to connect, our desire to be seen, and our irrepressible intelligence about who we are as individuals.
