The Choreographers

Koma & EikoKoma & Eiko

Eiko & Koma

Eiko and Koma met in 1971 when they each joined the Tatsumi Hijikata company in Tokyo. Their collaboration begin as an experiment and then developed into an exclusive partnership. They started work as independent artists in Tokyo in 1972 and in 1973, they moved to Amsterdam, spending two years touring extensively in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Tunisia. They have created and presented site-adaptable performance installations at dozens of sites for almost 35,000 audience members. Eiko & Koma live in New York City, where they perform regularly and offer occasional Delicious Movement Workshops.
