Archives/Video Production (2)
Works with the Director of Archives and Preservation in the documentation of the summer festival and the preservation of ADF's historical records. Duties include assisting the ADF videographer in the recording of dance performances and other events, duplicating, labeling, and logging videos, processing archival collections, and providing other assistance as needed. An interest in the preservation of dance materials is preferred, along with computer experience and attention to detail. Some evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend
Development & Special Events (1) * This internship begins May 21, 2012
Assists the development staff on the planning and execution of special events throughout the season, most specifically the ADF Gala, working closely with ADF donors and VIP guests. This intern provides general administrative support, including database entry, donor phone calls, correspondence, and grant writing. The intern in this position works closely with ADF community partners on garnering and managing In-Kind donations for use during the season. The Development and Special Events intern must be flexible, detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once. This intern must also be able to conduct themselves professionally with donors and VIPs, and be comfortable in public and social settings. Evening and weekend work required. Must be 21 or over, possess a valid drivers license, and provide their own transportation. $1,190 stipend
Executive (2) *
The executive interns will work alongside the ADF Director and ADF Executive Assistant. Responsibilities include general administrative support for a busy office; assisting the Director; coordinating visits for VIP guests; airport runs; assisting in the International Choreographers Residency (ICR) program; facilitate the production of ADF's International Screendance Festival; assisting with special events planning and more. Must be flexible, detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend
Finance (1)
Works with the Finance Assistant and the Director of Finance and Administration in all aspects of finance office. Projects include but not limited to parking permits and comp ticket requests. Will assist in other departments as needed. Experience with Excel required. Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Interest in the arts preferred. Some evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend
Food & Housing (1)
Works closely with the Food and Housing Coordinator and in conjunction with the school and finance offices. The Food and Housing office is responsible for planning and implementing housing, receptions and parties and arranging food and housing requests with Duke University for the ADF students and professionals throughout the festival. Must be detail- and customer-service oriented. Evening and weekend work required. $1,100 stipend
Graphic Design (1) This internship begins May 16, 2012
Assists the Graphic & Web Designer on various print projects including, but not limited to the creation of ads, programs, flyers and other Marketing and Development materials. This intern is responsible for designing performance posters, working with the print company and maintaining theater and community displays. Web design work can include creating weekly e-blasts as well as assisting with updates on the ADF website. This position also assists the Marketing department with projects and at events. This fast-paced, deadline oriented position allows for the opportunity to build an excellent design portfolio. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop required. Some web knowledge is helpful, but not required. Evening and weekend work required. $1,260 stipend.
Merchandising (1) *
Will manage day-to-day operations of the ADF Store, which has locations on East Campus and at both theaters. Responsibilities include inventory control, daily/weekly cash reports, and supervision of the scholarship students and volunteers who work in the store and at the theater. Must be a detail-oriented self-starter, with mathematical proficiency and a creative eye for visual display. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel required. Evening and weekend work required. $1,100 stipend
MFA (1) *
Works in the office of the MFA Director and MFA Administrative Assistants for the Hollins University/American Dance Festival MFA Program. Responsibilities include multiple tasks and general administrative support. Primarily assisting the Director with daily office coordination, scheduling, event planning and more. Must be flexible, able to function in a multi-tasked environment, detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational skills. Evening and weekend work required. Must be 21 or over. $950 stipend
Performances (2) *
Participate in and are responsible for activities directly related to the administrative coordination of the professional performances and community outreach programs. Assist in communicating with the companies, production crew and community organizations. At times responsible for transporting company members. Must have good organizational skills, an ability to manage multiple tasks and an aptitude for detailed work. Evening and weekend work required. Must have a valid drivers liscense and provide own transportation. Must be 21 or over. $950 stipend
School (Six Week School) (1) *
Assists the Director of School Administration with all aspects of coordinating the ADF School Programs. Will work with an international student body and faculty totaling more than 500 people, with a focus on assisting in the operations of the Six Week School and Dance Professionals Workshop. Responsible for scheduling scholarship students' work hours, assisting faculty and school VIPs, assisting 6WS and DPW students with logistical needs and many other tasks involved in the administrative and day-to-day running of the ADF School. Computer skills required, database knowledge a plus. Must be exceptionally organized and detailed, possess a positive attitude and be comfortable working independently in a fast paced environment. Evening and weekend work required. Must be 21 or older. $950 stipend
School (Three Week School) (1) *
Assists the Director of School Administration with all aspects of coordinating the ADF School Programs. Will work with an international student body and faculty totaling more than 500 people, with a focus on assisting in the operations of the Three Week School (students ages 12 - 16) and students in the Six Week School under the age of 18. Responsible for arranging dorm counselor schedules, corresponding with parents, coordinating and distributing a comprehensive weekly Three Week School schedule, arranging weekend activities and many other tasks involved in the administrative and day-to-day running of the ADF School. Computer skills required, database knowledge and previous experience with younger students a plus. Must be comfortable working independently and possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task in a faced paced environment. Evening and weekend work required. Must be 21 or older. $950 stipend
School Operations (3)
Assists the School Operations Coordinator and the School Technical Assistant. The School Operations Office manages all studio, transportation, equipment, and technical needs for the ADF community of more than 500 students, faculty and professionals. The School Operations Interns will assist in the coordination of all studio allocation outside of the regular class schedule, ADF bus schedules, equipment distribution and general studio upkeep. Executes setting up/breaking down and technical needs all school-related events. Will drive 12-passenger van to assist with transportation needs. Must be comfortable with fair amount of physical labor. Experience with basic technical equipment a plus. Evening and weekend work required. Must be 21 or older. $1,100 stipend
Video Production (1) *
Responsible for shooting video of a variety of classes, showings, events, and student concerts and delivering completed video to the Archives. Experience with videography is preferred. Knowledge of iMovie or Final Cut is useful but not required. Must be flexible and able to deal with a dynamic schedule. Frequent evening and weekend work required. The Video Production Intern reports to the Director of Archives and Preservation and may also assist with other archival projects. $950 stipend
WFSS (1) *
WFSS are classes that take place in the Six Week School schedule on Wednesdays, Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. The WFSS Intern will assist the WFSS Coordinator and the School Office to ensure the WFSS classes (a schedule that changes weekly) are posted and updated in a timely manner. Assists all WFSS faculty with various needs, ranging from coordinating auditions to room/board/travel. Also responsible for tracking class enrollment, coordinating classroom needs with the School Operations Office, displaying all faculty, class and schedule information and organizing all aspects of the 6WS student concert. Computer skills required. Must also possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task in a faced paced environment. Evening and weekend work required. $950 stipend
