Samuel H. Scripps American Dance Festival Award, 1981—
The American Dance Festival wishes to thank Samuel H. Scripps, whose generous contribution has made possible the Samuel H. Scripps American Dance Festival Award for Lifetime Achievement. This annual award honors choreographers who have made a significant lifetime contribution to the field of modern dance. The recipients are selected each year by a specially appointed panel and receive $35,000.

The Balasaraswati/Joy Ann Dewey Beinecke Chair for Distinguished Teaching was established in 1991. It is the first endowed teaching chair in dance, made possible through the generous contribution of Luise Elcaness Scripps, with additional support from Walter Beinecke, the daughters of Joy Ann Dewey Beinecke, and the ADF.
