Reports To: ADF Director and ADF Co-Director
Position Supervised: Development Associate

Qualifications
A minimum of ten years of nonprofit fund development experience in an arts or cultural organization. Hands on experience with individual giving, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, and other major gifts, record of success in achieving fund development goals, excellent writing and interpersonal skills, demonstrated working relationships with executives, board members, and volunteers. Knowledge of the Triangle Community preferred.

Job Summary
The Director of Development is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program, including individual, corporate, foundation and government contributions, major gifts, special events, and direct mail/email appeals for the organization.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

•Research, cultivate, and recruit major individual gift donors and secure increasing funding from this source.

•Develop and implement a short and long-term strategy for securing financial support from a diversified group of funders, including but not limited to, individuals, foundations, corporations, and government, as well as in-kind donations.

•Oversee prospect research and identify new sources of funding.

•Develop and implement fundraising/donor activities.

•Scripps/ADF ceremony and reception.

•Develop and the oversee grant proposals, appeal letters, funding reports, and other fundraising materials.

•Manage the ADF development database (a customized FileMaker Pro database).

•Will also represent ADF at any governmental meetings and events.

•Monthly reports documenting development activity level including progress towards meeting targets.

•Oversee the gathering of data on ADF activities and the creation of a season fact sheet.

•Works closely with Directors on communications with the ADF Board.

•Stay on top of current professional trends in the industry.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Marketing and Communications Associate | Applications accepted until December 13, 2008

Reports to: Director of Marketing & Communications

Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications Associate will assist with all marketing and press-related activities and will work in tandem with the Director of Marketing and Communications and Graphic and Web Designer to promote the ADF, its performances and programs to the Triangle area and beyond.

Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills and a minimum of two years related experience. Strong interest in and knowledge of modern dance preferred. Experience with social networking websites a plus.

Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Promote public awareness and interest in the ADF by securing media placements and reviews.
  • Maintain effective communications with the general public and the dance community.
  • Provide promotional materials and information to current and potential ticket buyers.
  • Consistently brainstorm new and improved marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Assist in the writing of press releases, public service announcements, brochure copy and email blasts.
  • Extend hospitality to visiting guests, VIPs and members of the media.
  • Participate in the coordination of the annual Critics Conference.
  • Maintain current patron, media and opening night databases.
  • Assist in all merchandising efforts.
  • Other duties as deemed appropriate by the Director of Marketing and Communications.
