Studio Rental

The Samuel H. Scripps Studios are located at 721 Broad Street, Durham, NC 27708 on the 2nd floor. Parking is available in the adjacent lot.

The beautiful Samuel H. Scripps Studios are now available for rentals! Whether it’s for a rehearsal, a photo or video shoot, an audition, or an event, our studios can fit your needs!

Rental  Prices

  • Studio reservations can be made for a minimum of one hour. Subsequent time can be reserved by the 1/2 hour.
  • Subsidized rentals are not yet available; we hope to be able to offer this soon on an application basis.

Studios  for  Rent

Studio A
   1. Dimensions: 32′x54′

     -Full floor-to-ceiling windows facing the beautiful Duke East Campus

     -Fully functioning boombox sound system, complete with CD player, 1/8″ chord (for use
       with most .mp3 players and laptops), and ipod dock

   3. Capacity: 35 (dancing), 115 (non-dancing)
   4. Price: $40.00 first hour, $20 each added 1/2 hour

Studio B
   1. Dimensions: 22′x44′
   2. Features
     -Full floor-to-ceiling windows facing the beautiful Duke East Campus
     -Full floor-to-ceiling mirrors on wall opposite of large windows
     -Observation windows
     -Fully functioning boombox sound system, complete with CD player, 1/8″ chord (for use
       with most .mp3 players and laptops), and ipod dock
     -Upright piano
   3. Capacity: 25 (dancing), 65 (non-dancing)
   4. Price: $30.00 first hour, $15 each added 1/2 hour

Rental  Procedures

  • You must submit the Studio Rental Form and Studio Waivers for rental consideration. Please complete and return all forms by either dropping them off at the ADF’s Studios, faxing, or emailing them to request your reservation. *Fax: 919-684-5459 or Email: studios@americandancefestival.org
  • After your completed forms have been received, ADF Staff will contact you for confirmation of your reservation. Please allow 48 hours for the staff to contact you.
  • Your reservation will not be complete until full payment is received.

refund/cancellation  policy

If you cancel your reservation more than 48 hours before the reserved time,  you will receive a full refund. If the cancellation is made less than 48 hours before the reserved time, you will not receive any refund.

Studio  Rules

  • Studios may only be rented for a class if it is non-competitive with classes currently offered at ADF’s Samuel H. Scripps Studios.
  • Any renter using the studio must complete the provided liability release form. Anyone who has not completed the form is not permitted to use the space.
  • Only water in plastic bottles/containers is permitted in the studio. No sports drinks, sodas, or juices are allowed.
  • No food is permitted in the studios.
  • No rosin, powder, or water is permitted on the studio floors.
  • Shoes that have been worn outside, hard-sole shoes, shoes with non-white soles, heeled shoes, ballroom shoes, and tap shoes are not permitted in the studio space. The only type of street shoes allowed is white-soled tennis shoes.
  • It is your responsibility to make sure the space is left in the same condition it was found. Any damage to the studio is the responsibility of the renter.
  • No smoking anywhere in the facility, including the balcony.

Massage  room  rental

Massage room available for rent in ADF’s Studios. Space is 96 square feet with access to bathrooms. The space is empty. Must provide all necessary equipment. Rent is $250 per month.  Must adhere to local and state licensing laws and regulations. The following certificates are required and must be presented: National License, State License and Liability Insurance. Must have three professional references.
