She also performed as a soloist under Jane Perkins Hyuak at the Emma Willard School in Troy, NY.  Rebecca’s love of young children prompted her to leave Wall Street and return to graduate school to become an elementary school teacher.  Recognizing a need for movement in the classroom, Rebecca began to explore the strong connections between movement and learning.  Her research led her to become a student of Anne Green Gilbert, founder and artistic director of The Creative Dance Center and Kaleidoscope Dance Company in Seattle, WA.  A life-long dancer and teacher, Rebecca is delighted to integrate her early childhood educational work with her dance training using techniques and principles that make dance and learning fun for all children. “Children have so much to gain from exploring dance.  They build confidence and strong self-esteem.  They develop mutual respect for classmates, learn critical thinking skills and collaboration.  Dance also provides a safe space for risk-taking and creative exploration.  All these qualities originate from within the child.  Once that growth is sparked, the possibilities for feeling successful and happy are endless.” photo by Christine Prisk .
