After another memorable and exciting summer, ADF students who stopped by Epworth on their lunch break share what resonated with them the most during their time at the Festival.
The Hollins University/American Dance Festival MFA Program is an innovative 60-credit program that offers students an opportunity to immerse themselves for six weeks of the summer in the international, collaborative community of the American Dance Festival, followed by an intimate learning atmosphere at Hollins University and abroad. Few graduate programs can provide students with such imaginative approaches to thinking about dance, along with such a wide range of experiences and opportunities, mentorships, and exposure to others in the international dance field. The ADF Video Blog sat down with Jeffery Bullock, the new Director of the HU/ADF MFA Program to talk about what makes this program stand out from others. Don’t miss the HU/ADF MFA Performance at Reynolds Industries Theater, July 22-23!
Meet Elena Slobodchikova from Russia and Wagner Moreira from Germany/Brazil. They are attending the ADF this summer as part of the International Choreographer’s Residency (ICR). The choreographers shared their excitement about their development and let us join them during technique class and rehearsal for the upcoming ICR showing on July 13 at 7pm in Baldwin Auditorium.
The 78th season of the ADF is dedicated to acclaimed visual artist Alex Katz, who has been a long time friend and supporter. Katz has created nine season posters since 1979, including the 2011 poster. A special exhibit of his artistic contributions to the ADF will be on display throughout the season in Skyline Lounge at the Durham Performing Arts Center. This exhibit is free and open to the public! You can purchase posters featuring Katz’s designs from the ADF Merchandise Store, located in the main hallway of Epworth Dorm and at all ADF performances. The ADF performance programs, featuring Katz’s artwork, are printed by Classic Graphics.
