Hailing from Argentina, the Brenda Angiel Aerial Dance Company takes the stage at the Durham Performing Arts Center, July 8-10. Brenda talked with CyberDance about her new work 8cho, which simultaneously honors the traditions of the tango and pushes its boundaries.

CyberDance talked with a few ADF faculty members about what it’s like to teach in such a multi-faceted environment. Ranging in styles from hip hop to modern and ballet, the ADF Faculty come from all over the world. They share their ideas, energy and most importantly their passion for the dance with their students, and for this we are grateful.

The ADF Faculty Concert is July 9 at 8 pm and July 10 at 2 pm and is free for ADF subscribers! The concert will be held at Duke University’s Reynolds Industries Theater.

CyberDance spoke with 2010 Scripps Award winner Martha Clarke and Academy Award winner Alfred Uhry about their collaborative process. This summer’s third ADF-commissioned work is an evening-length piece inspired by the Shakers, which seamlessly integrates movement, speech and song. Adding to this season’s exploration of dance theater, Martha says, “Dance is theater and theater is dance.”
