Valerie Henderson

Valerie Henderson is the ADF’s costume designer this summer. She’s working closely with the choreographers for the 2009 Past/Forward performances, providing costumes for Rosie Herrera’s Various Stages of Drowning, the reconstruction of Laura Dean’s Infinity, and a world premiere by Faye Driscoll. Valerie is also providing costumes for H. Art Chaos, and she advises and assists the Hollins University/ADF MFA students preparing for their thesis performances in the final week of the festival.

Teaching Tribute

Carolyn Adams, Ruth Andrien and Sharon Kinney will be honored with the Balasaraswati/Joy Ann Dewey Beinecke Endowed Chair for Distinguished Teaching Award at Duke University’s Griffith Theatre tonight at 8 pm. “Within the shared language of Paul Taylor’s early choreography, these three remarkable women set their careers in motion,” says ADF Dean Donna Faye Burchfield. The video begins with an excerpt from the world premiere of Paul Taylor’s Profiles at ADF in 1979, featuring Ruth Andrien.
