Paul Taylor Dance Company

Posted in Performances '14, 2014.

Dancemaker Paul Taylor, one of the seminal artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, continues to shape the homegrown American art of modern dance that he has helped define since he became a professional dancer and pioneering choreographer in 1954.

In celebration of Paul Taylor Dance Company’s 60th anniversary, ADF has commissioned a new work, Marathon Cadenzas, which you can catch a glimpse of here. Set to The Raymond Scott Quintette’s classic recordings of The Penguin, Oil Gusher, Minuet in Jazz, Girl at the Typewriter, Twilight in Turkey, and Peter Tambourine, this new work depicts a dance marathon where couples hope to survive to the end to collect the prize.

In addition, the evening will feature the well-loved masterpieces Diggity and Cloven Kingdom.
