Yangkeun Kim first attended ADF as a student in 1989 at the urging of her teacher, Wansoon Yook. The following year, Ms. Yook–highly regarded as a modern dance pioneer in Korea–partnered with ADF Director Charles Reinhart and Co-Director Stephanie Reinhart to create ADF/Seoul. Managed by Ms. Kim and Ms. Yook, ADF/Seoul was a great success, introducing hundreds of Korean dancers and educators to new modern dance techniques and movement vocabularies. Later renamed ADF/Korea, the program has been held seven times, most recently in 2004, and has helped modern dance flourish in South Korea.

Today, Ms. Kim is a professor at Soongeui Women’s College in Seoul, Artistic Director of Garion Dance Company, and vice president of The Dance Science of Korea. She is also a member of the ADF Faculty.
