Posted in 80 Faces, 2013.

Elena Slobodchikova’s first taste of modern dance came in 1997 when her professors at the Moscow State University of Culture suggested she attend ADF/Russia, a mini version of the dance festival.

Since 2006, she has been a Six Week School student, twice attended the International Choreographers Residency (ICR) program, and graduated from the Hollins University/American Dance Festival MFA program. Today, she serves as Assistant Professor of Dance at the Academy of Theatre and Music in the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia. In today’s 80 Faces, Ms. Slobodchikova discusses the impact of ADF on her own personal journey and the ways in which the festival’s international linkages have shaped modern dance in Russia.
